We often get asked if we can dispose of fridges/freezers?... the answer is yes! However they cannot be scrapped at scrap yards, this is due to a combination of the gasses/expanded foam insulation & plastics in them, it simply costs more to dispose of those than scrap metal value of the metal content.

So why use Trading Payne's?

We are fully compliant with legislation, we hold the required licences and insurances, most people are not aware that it is their responsibility to ensure anyone collecting any waste from them has the appropriate licences, additionally anyone collecting metals must also hold a Scrap Metal Collectors Licence for your Council Borough, we issue Waste Transfer Notices to confirm that you have not fly tipped your waste and it confirms that we have not stolen it, we only do booked jobs, we can usually collect within a few days if not the same day! We also offer discounts if collecting more than one unit from a single location. Rest assured if using us your items will not end up in a country lane or field!

Do I have any other options?

Yes you do, most council recycling centres will accept two domestic unit's free of charge from a domestic customer in each year, after that the £35 or similar fee is applied and you have to get it there, remembering that some centres will charge as trade waste if taken in a van. There are also some organisations such as Ipswich Furniture Project, they collect some for free depending on the condition and what postcode area you are in, there is also often a 2-3 week wait for collection.

So why is there a fee from £24.99 to take my old domestic fridge/freezer away?

The Fridges & Freezers we dispose of go to FCC Ltd, as a trade customer we get charged to drop mutiple units off, we also lose a percentage of the fee to either the card machine company or for paying cash into our business bank account, this is before the cost of licences/insurances, fuel, vehicle costs and taxes, and of course a little for our time. Standard domestic units are charged at £24.99, Large American style units are charged at £34.99 per unit.

We can also dispose of commercial stand alone fridge or freezer units, fee's for this service are from £74.99 per unit depending on size/location of load, please contact us for details.
